Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

1 12 oz bag of cranberries, 3 cups

1 cup water

*Sweetener can be changed to modify sugar content:

1 cup sugar

OR

1/2 cup honey/maple syrup

1 tsp fresh orange zest

OR

Stevia or other preferred alternative sweetener

1/4 cup sugar

1 tsp orange zest

*Optional

3/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice

Directions

Wash the cranberries well

Add the water and sweetener of choice to a pot on medium heat. Stir often to ensure the sweetener doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot.

Once the sweetener is dissolved, add the cranberries, reduce to a simmer, and cover.

Stir occasionally but be careful of popping berries.

Remove from heat and allow to cool after 10 minutes or when the cranberries are cooked to your liking.

The sauce will thicken the more it cools.

Notes

A simple and traditional cranberry sauce recipe.

It's meant to be a topping so enjoy it one bite at a time, savoring each bitter/sweet drop.
