Bulgogi Steak (homemade sauce)
Ingredients
Meat 1 lb flank steak
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup green onion
1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Marinade:
1/8 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
1.5 tbsp light brown sugar
1 tbsp sesame oil
3 cloves freshly minced garlic
1/2 tbsp freshly grated ginger
1/4 cup Asian pear, grated
1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
Directions
Slice the flank stead across the grain into 1/4 inch slices.
In a freezer Ziploc bag combine all the marinade ingredients, add the steak slices and marinate for 2-3 hours or overnight. Turn the bad occasionally for optimal flavors.
Preheat a pan over medium-high heat and then add 1 tbsp olive oil or less.
Once hot add meat into the pan and cook until charred, 2-3 minutes per side. Minimize stirring and cover to prevent drying out steak.
Garnish with green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
Notes
Serve over rice/quinoa mixture with steamed snow peas or in a tortilla to make a taco.
Toasting sesame seeds don't take long, put into a pan with a spray of oil until they are golden brown, stir occasionally.
